Seasonal adventure Days!
Get out in the mountains!
Is your teen in school or busy during the week? Can’t commit to the whole season of Teen Forest Adventures? OR! Can they just not get enough of TFA and want to add more??
Join awesome TFA mentors for a series of fascinating adventures that can’t be had on a regular weekly TFA program day. Each time they’ll experience a unique beautiful area and natural phenomena worth the extra drive and thrilling to explore! Teens will return feeling satisfied (and maybe a little sore) from the physical challenge, and inspired by our wondrous region.
Saturday March 14: Roan Mountain
Come stretch your legs after the long winter on a high-elevation hike along the North Carolina-Tennessee border! Roan Mountain is considered by many as the most beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail in NC, with seemingly endless views into both states. While this hike is most noted for the miles of grassy balds and rock outcrops, we will also pass through unique ecosystems like rhododendron "gardens" and dense, mossy spruce-fir forests, even encountering areas with endangered plants. If you're up for a bit more of a hike than a typical TFA day, join us and explore what could become your new favorite hiking area!
Teens will meet at the usual convenient Asheville meetup location and ride the van to Roan Mountain and back.
