Braiding Blossoms
meets 8 times a year with the shifts of the seasons.
We share “dirt time” connecting with the outside world,
slow, longterm cultivation of relationships face to face,
and support for a healthy relationship to self.
Started in 2020, Braiding Blossoms is a circle of moms and their female bodied teens* who have a common foundation in nature connection. In alignment with Forest Floor and Teen Forest Adventures, Braiding Blossoms follows 8 Shields methodology to cultivate connection to self, each other, and the greater than human world. Facilitated by Tiffanie Pope with occasional guest instructors, the vibe is warm, grounded, sincere, and playful.
- We share Nature Connection, fun and play, laughter and reverence, story and song, creativity and expression, making and tending, growth and learning, relationships nurtured through face-to-face shared experiences with care and trust, rites of passage, and more! We celebrate pleasure, affirm our bodies, savor delicious+wholesome homemade meals, and spend active time outside. Braiding Blossoms aims to be a haven for slow time where we can just be and not feel rushed!
- We do this together as moms and children because all of us humans - child and adult, from one to 101(!) - need intentional support to have meaningful, fulfilling relationships with each other, the natural world, and ourselves, and to be our fullest, most joy-filled expression through puberty and beyond.
- We eschew the predominant story in our society that says moms and their teen daughters can’t be close and enjoy each other; we believe that this time is especially important for us actually to be close and prioritize quality time together, evolving our relationships as our children blossom into adults.
- As opposed to a drop-in program where participants come and go, the ultimate vision for Braiding Blossoms is that it is an initiated circle which holds and carries moms and their femme children through the teen years, deepening relationships and growing together.
*We encourage self-expression, -exploration and -identity and use inclusive terms. This group is for anyone born with a womb, as opposed to anyone identifying as female.

From Tiffanie:
Once I hit puberty, I felt isolated in my experience of my changing body and changing self. My friendships were on the surface; I had nobody I felt I could talk to about what mattered. There were very few women I felt I could trust to ask big questions or who saw me as I grew into a young woman. I lacked support. This is why I started Braiding Blossoms ~ so our daughters could have a different experience of their teen years than I did, AND so moms could have a sweeter, more supported time too! What I see in Braiding Blossoms teens is humans who are grounded, know themselves, who see and lift each other up, encourage each other to grow, and have each other’s backs. Daughters and moms see each other, listen and share, and have fun together! In this circle we co-create an interwoven web of support - mom-to-daughter, mom-to-mom, daughter-to-daughter, and daughter-to-auntie.
From Braiding Blossoms Members:
“Tiffanie offers kind and expectant prompts, in a relaxed environment. She creates gentle nature experiences that are just the right soil for us to let go of our tangled, man made daily lives. I always find myself settling in and wanting to relax into participation. Her skill at creating a warm and playful itinerary welcomes the unraveling of my awkward self and the sharing laughter, tears and smiles. Tiffanie subtly but profoundly returns nature to its home within and through our connection to each other. My daughter and I always leave appreciating and leaning on the relevance of nature.
My daughter's favorites were the sweet ending she could rely on-dessert. games of coordination (ball tossing), seeing friends and enriching the friendship in this environment, singing as a group, harmonizing and the solitude of the sit spot.”
“I am so grateful to the Braiding Blossoms program. Not only has it been where my daughter has made deep friendships, but it’s been so connective for our mother-daughter relationship at an age when our cultural scripts tend to predict strife and eye rolls. This has been a regular container for being together with other mothers and daughters — mostly unplugged in the natural world and often around a fire, which I find a much-needed reset.”
“Braiding Blossoms is fun because it takes two vital parts of my life, my mom and nature connection and wraps them up together in laughter, deep fireside stories, delicious food and connection. And brings me closer to my friends AND my mom.”
“Braiding Blossoms: where I come for the snacks—stay for the laughter—and come back for the incredible community and connection Tiffanie has created and facilitated!”
